Newly Housed meets Yours for the Day

For those of you who have been following my blog for any time now, you’ve probably noticed that the frequency of my posting has declined. As in, I have barely posted once a month over the past several months. Fail. But as many people do, I have an excuse. Well… sort of.  You see, I have had this burning desire in the last year (give or take) to start my own business.  And, as fate would have it, I was able to do just that this summer.  SO, to say that I have been busy this summer would be an understatement. But with that said, I am extremely excited for my new business venture AND to the possibility of tying it into Newly Housed.

You may be asking, what is your new business? Well, if we are Facebook friends you have probably been invited to like Yours for the Day Event Rentals. That’s right, I am turning my love for décor and DIY into a business where I can help others put together their dream event.

Running an event decor business takes stuff. Lots. Of. Stuff. (Sorry, David). Our basement has turned into my office and on many occasions has looked like this:IMG_1363

Of course, you also have the process of cleaning/organizing everything. I just love seeing old items come to life with a little soap and water.

Where will this adventure take me? I’m not sure yet. However, I am excited for the ride and know that it will be a great experience nonetheless. Plus, it will give me an excuse to go thrift shopping every weekend (I mean, do I really need an excuse to do this?!).

I will leave you of a picture of David and I during our fun weekend get away to Des Moines a few weekends ago. Yes, it is a car selfie, but it is the only picture I got and I think my husband looks cute. Plus, he has been my biggest supporter through this whole process and I just want the world to know how wonderful he is.
