Hello blog world! I realize it’s been a while since my last post. Between work travel, family gatherings, and everyday routines, life has been speeding past way too quickly these past several weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I did manage to throw in a few DIY projects amidst the craziness, and am excited for today’s post.
The mailbox. One may not pay attention to it all that often, but it can stick out like a sore thumb if neglected. Want proof? Just take a look a the every-so-beautiful mailbox we received when we got the keys.
Replacing the mailbox was one of the first exterior projects we tackled after becoming home owners. However, we recently devoted a little extra lovin’ to this area which has made all of the difference. David built up and leveled the area surrounding the mailbox with dirt. Once completed, we placed landscaping fabric and framed the dirt with bricks that were leftover from our walkway landscaping. To complete the project we planted a few plants and surrounded the plants with river rocks. I am proud to say the mailbox is no longer considered an eyesore on the property.
And what does the final mailbox look like? Well, I’m glad you asked. Check out a few of the after pictures below (yes, today is gloomy but I was too excited not to share).
Not too bad for a two hour project on a Saturday.
Thanks for stopping by.
